Chris Stapleton, Ruston Kelly Land on Former President Barack Obama’s Favorite Music of 2020 List

While 2020 has been quite an unpredictable year for many, some country artists are being included in one fun and exciting yearly tradition.

Former President Barack Obama has released his ‘Favorite Music of 2020′ list, featuring his top songs of the year from multiple artists across all genres. Country artists Chris Stapleton and Ruston Kelly nabbed spots on the annual set, with their songs, “Starting Over” and “Brave,” respectively.

Although Stapleton stayed mum about the nod on social media, Kelly took to his Instagram to comment upon the recognition in a rather interesting way.

“Obama bumps dirt emo,” he hilariously questioned, referring to his position among the other artists on the list.

The two country musicians find themselves in good company, chosen among other artists such as Dua Lipa, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and more.

Obama gave some credit to his daughter, Sasha, for helping curate the selection and encouraged his followers to “find a new song or two to listen to.”

This tradition was started back in 2012, when Obama ran for a second term as president. It has featured several well-known country artists including Zac Brown Band, Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Sugarland.

Both Stapleton and Kelly have accomplished a lot in 2020. Stapleton released his latest album, Starting Over, in November, while Kelly did the same back in August with Shape & Destroy. Kelly also just celebrated two years of sobriety on December 15, according to a happy Instagram post he shared with fans.
