Bob fixin’ to cash one BIG, FAT check for himself.
According to Bloomberg, legendary singer/songwriter Bob Dylan has reportedly sold the rights to his entire catalog of music to Universal Music Group for what should probably amount to a record-setting amount of money.
“The collection encompasses 600 works, from early-’60s songs such as ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’ and ‘The Times They Are a-Changin’ to an album released just this year.”
The deal is set to fetch Dylan more than $300 million dollars, according to the New York Times, but the financial terms have not been disclosed.
“It is no exaggeration to say that his vast body of work has captured the love and admiration of billions of people all around the world,” Universal Chief Executive Officer Lucian Grainge said in a statement. “I have no doubt that decades, even centuries from now, the words and music of Bob Dylan will continue to be sung and played — and cherished — everywhere.”
At 79 years of age, Bob Dylan is still releasing records. In June of this year, Dylan released his 39th studio album, Rough & Rowdy Ways, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200.
