Tim McGraw rarely performs with a guitar in hand (especially an acoustic one), but this situation was special.
For the Country Music Hall of Fame’s BIG NIGHT (At the Museum), McGraw covered the all-time classic, “Don’t Close Your Eyes,” (written by Bob McDill) with Keith Whitley’s C.W. Parsons guitar that Whitley “bought in his home state of Kentucky for a dollar and a handshake.”
Nobody can touch Keith’s vocals on this song (see what I mean here), but what an honor it must have been to perform it with that guitar.
Check it out.
Keith Whitley has always been one of my favorite artists and songwriters of all time….. And the @countrymusichof let me play his C.W. Parsons acoustic guitar!! Tune in tonight at 8pm CT and let’s make history together #BigNightAtTheMuseum https://t.co/idy1SVaoNt

Thanx @countrymusichof for inviting me to be part of #BigNightAtTheMuseum. Keith Whitley bought this guitar for a dollar and a handshake…..I’ve been covering this song as long as I remember, but I’ll never forget playing it on Keith’s CW Parsons. https://t.co/nCk1g1DElx
